Teachings of Mr Gurdjieff
Accumulators
Artist's note: When you are running a race and become exhausted, if you make a super effort then you get your second wind. This is
the use of the big accumulator. There are small accumulators attached to each centre and a large accumulator, which is very seldom used
because in modern life we all want things easy. With eating, for example, primitive man was so made that he could gorge then go for several
days without food until he found more, whereas modern man eats continuously. For anyone who knows the Gurdjieff system there is a great deal
in this painting if they attend to the colours.
