Our Solar System
Birth of the Moon
Artist's note: This painting shows how a comet from the centre of the galaxy struck the Earth and knocked off two pieces. This idea
is presented in Gurdjieff’s All and Everything [Ch. 9, ‘The cause of the genesis of the moon’], which describes how the comet
Kondoor detached Loonderperzo and Anulios. Loonderperzo is the Moon; Anulios is always facing the Sun so we cannot see it. On another scale
the painting depicts life striking a person and their emotional and intellectual parts being separated from the body. This creates for us
the task of balancing our three centres if we want to perfect ourselves.
