Longing
Editors' note: Abdullah talks about the sigh of longing, the longing of the spirit to return to its Source. Rumi’s poem 'The Song
of the Reed' conveys this longing as does much other Sufi poetry. Through polarity we are all attracted back to our Source, no one can
escape this pull. We have the choice of returning knowingly or unknowingly. A longing for God is part of a person’s growth, part of the
quest of the lover for the Beloved. Later the person realises there is no lover and no Beloved.
