The States of Man
Man Awakening
Artist's note: Here is a man who has understood something about the state of sleep he is in and is fighting against the inertia of
the body. He is still lopsided but knows he is in the jail of the senses so he has a possibility of getting out. He is connected by his own
efforts to the atmosphere of the Sun and, although he still has the Moon in him, is aware of the fact. Yellow, being one of the parts of
orange, is used in the painting to denote the atmosphere of the Sun.
