Artist's note: There are always veils between you and God, separating you from realisation of God. Shaikh Ibn Arabi speaks of the Realms between the Heavenly Mansions and the surface of the Earth, with barriers between – ‘They cannot mix with one another because of this partition which divides them.’ The key to removing the veils will come from your understanding. At the beginning you try to understand God through self-remembrance. Muslims believe literally that we come from Heaven, are born on this planet, and finally must pass through different levels of Heaven as we return to God. These heavens are really our levels of spiritual attainment as we go back to Allah.
